Yeah, yeah, I left out Super Mario Bros. 2 (Japan). But I have always considered it more of an extension to the original than a sequel. While the original Super Mario Bros. and Super Mario 64 are with out doubt, two of the most influential games to be created, I have a toss up between Super Mario Bros. 3 and Super Mario Galaxy as my favorite Mario game. Really though, I don’t think I can even narrow it down to just one. I will just leave it as Super Mario Bros. 3 as the best 2D Mario and Super Mario Galaxy as the best 3D Mario game. But Super Mario Bros. and Super Mario 64 will always remain the most influential to design and revolutionary to the Mario series, and indeed the 2D and 3D platformer genre. But the question is, what is your favorite (console) Super Mario game?
